About this course:

Building on knowledge gained in other required certificate courses, this course provides students with fundamentals and practice in formulating exercise prescriptions, as well as designing safe and effective exercise programs for individual clients. Material is covered through lectures, practical application, and case studies. Topics include principles of exercise prescription; ACSM guidelines; exercise prescription for special populations; adherence to exercise, stretching, emergency procedures, and injury prevention; and teaching techniques and the dynamics of fitness instructor/client interaction. Instruction focuses on exercise prescription based on sound scientific practices.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of five required courses in the Fitness Instruction Certificate.
