Loan Disbursements

Receiving Your Check

Private loans will be equally disbursed over your quarters of enrollment for the current school year. Loans are disbursed 10 days before the start of the quarter; disbursement dates can not be adjusted. Loan proceeds will be sent from the lender electronically and disbursed via UCLA accounts billing and receivable system, BruinDirect, once your enrollment of a minimum of six (6) units is verified.

Note: If you do not sign up for BruinDirect your loan check will be mailed via U.S. mail to your mailing address listed on our UCLA Extension account. If the address is incorrect or needs updating, please inform the UCLA Extension Financial Aid Office.

Non-EFT Lenders

If you selected a lender who does NOT participate in the electronic process, your paper check(s) will be sent to UCLA Student Loan Services. You will be required to pick up your private loan check in person at the Strathmore Building, Room 106 on the UCLA campus. To find out if your check(s) are available for pick-up, please contact the UCLA Extension Financial Aid Office. Checks are disbursed 3-5 days before the quarter starts and must be picked-up within three weeks of the beginning of the quarter to avoid cancellation. To receive your private loan check(s) you must:

Have already paid for classes at UCLA Extension
Present your registration receipts showing "PAID" in a minimum of six (6) units. Courses must be taken for a letter grade. Courses numbered 700-900 are not eligible for private loans.
Show a valid picture ID: United States driver's license, California ID, Military ID, or passport.

Sign up for BruinDirect

BruinDirect is the electronic deposit of funds directly into your personal bank account. This service gives you access to your money faster and more conveniently than a mailed check. BruinDirect may be used for checking accounts at any bank or credit union in the United States.

Click on the Finance and Jobs tab
Click on BruinBill
Sign up for BruinDirect

*If you do not have a MyUCLA account, follow these instructions to set one up:

Obtain your UID (university identification number). It will be sent to you in an email confirmation after your loan has been certified. Use your UID to complete steps 2 and 3 below.
Create a UCLA Log On ID
Log into MyUCLA using the log on credentials created

BruinBill, the UCLA campus billing platform, is where you can manage and view your loan disbursement and refunds transaction history. Access BruinBill by logging into your MyUCLA account.

UCLA's BruinDirect is a fast, secure process to deposit financial aid refunds directly to a student’s bank account. Sign up for BruinDirect by logging into MyUCLA, click on the Finance and Jobs tab and click on BruinBill.
