Lecture, four hours; discussion, one hour; outside study, seven hours. Enforced requisite: course 131A. Layered communications architectures. Queueing system modeling and analysis. Error control, flow and congestion control. Packet switching, circuit switching, and routing. Network performance analysis and design.
