Joan Canzone

Joan Canzone

MS, Joan is currently employed at a Los Angeles private high school as an associate director of college counseling. Previously, she served as the director of guidance in a private Catholic high school in San Francisco. Concurrently, she works for USC as a Bovard Scholars Admissions Coach. She is a graduate of Hunter College in New York City where she earned a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. She holds two M.S. degrees from Mercy College in New York City, one in School Counseling and the other in School Administration and Supervision. She also holds three permanent New York State education licenses and her California Pupil Personnel Services Credential. Prior to moving to California a few years ago, she served as a Principal within a New York City Archdiocesan school. She was also an adjunct professor at two New York colleges and has worked in college admissions, serving as an Assistant Director of Admissions at a private college in New York City. She is an active member of several counseling organizations, including the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), Western Association of College Admissions Counselors (WACAC), American School Counselors Association (ASCA) and the California Association of School Counselors (CASC). She has also read and reviewed applications for UCLA, UCSB and UCSD Undergraduate Admissions and brings over 20 years of experience to the UCLA College Counseling Certificate Program. Her goal is to share her work experiences with her students to further enhance their counseling tool kit and better prepare them for their careers in this field.
