Juan Rivera

Juan Rivera, Master’s in Music Performance in Classical Guitar Performance, UCLA; music director at the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood through the Music Partnership Program; Gluck Outreach Fellow performing in schools, libraries, retirement homes, and at a children’s hospital.

While at UCLA, he has performed with a wide variety of ensembles that include the old-time string ensemble, mariachi, early music, guitar ensemble and has collaborated with an eclectic roster of instrumentalist in addition to premiering numerous works. During his undergraduate studies, Juan had the opportunity to design and teach and undergraduate seminar through the USIE program (Undergraduate Student Initiated Education) where he taught a class on guitar history and styles. As a graduate student, he has also participated in TEDx UCLA 2018 as a speaker/performer.

In addition, Juan has won several awards most notably the Randy Rhoads Guitar Memorial Scholarship, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Elaine Krown Klein Scholarship, and the Mimi Alpert Feldman Scholarship. As student of Peter Yates, recently completed his Master’s of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance at UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. Juan plans to continue performing and pursue doctoral studies in musicology after completing his master’s degree.
