Certificate FAQs
What are the application requirements?
This certificate is open enrollment; no formal application is necessary, and anyone can take individual classes. You do not need to provide transcripts or test scores.
Do I have to pay the $200 Application and Candidacy Fee?
You do not have to pay the fee to enroll in single courses. However, fee payment is required if you are planning to complete the certificate program and receive the gold-seal certificate. By paying the one-time $150 Application and Candidacy Fee, you will also be eligible for the Exclusive Benefits for Certificate Students.
Will I have to pay the entire $6300 estimated program tuition at once?
No. You pay for each course as you go; you are responsible for purchasing the required books as needed per course.
Can I pay the full $6300 estimated program tuition if my company is paying for it?
No. We are unable to accept lump sum payments or installments. The only option is paying for individual courses as you enroll.
How can I join this program?
Once you pay the Application and Candidacy Fee, you can start the program by enrolling in individual courses. Scroll up to find the course of your choosing, and click on it. From the course page, scroll down to view the available sections and select your preference by pressing on the yellow "Enroll" button to proceed.
Are there any prerequisites?
There are no prerequisites for any of the Project Management Certificate courses, except for the Project Management Capstone course. Before enrolling in the Capstone course, you should already be familiar with the tools and techniques taught in the previous courses.
How many courses should I take in a quarter, and how long does it take to complete the program?
This is up to you, and depends on your personal schedule. Full-time students take at least three courses per quarter to complete the program in six months. Part-time students take one or two courses per quarter to complete the program in nine to 12 months. Working professionals usually take one or two courses per quarter.
How much time will I need to dedicate to each course per week?
A course unit represents approximately two hours of studying per week. Therefore, a four-unit course will require approximately eight hours of preparation and studying per week. Of course, the actual hours may vary, depending on the course and student.
Is financial aid available?
This program is eligible for WIOA benefits through unemployment assistance, but it does not qualify for FAFSA. You can visit the UCLA Extension Financial Aid website for information and related questions.
When does each quarter begin and end?
You can find this information in our Academic Calendar.
Can I complete this program online, remotely, or in the classroom?
Yes, to all. These are called instructional delivery modes and can be intermingled. For example, you can take one course online, and another remotely, or in person. But, once the enrollment deadline passes, you will not be able to change delivery modes within the same quarter. All our courses are the same in Canvas, offering you the same lecture material, assignments, and grading criteria, regardless of mode. Refer to Instruction Methods for further information. Please note that none of our courses are delivered in the hybrid mode.
What is the difference between the certificate in Project Management and the certificate in Project Management with a Concentration in Agile or Lean Six Sigma?
The certificate in Project Management without any Concentrations appeals to those planning to complete the training with a 6-course program. The Concentrations appeal to those planning to enhance their training with a combined 9-course track with either Agile or Lean Six Sigma.
